Castrol Alphasyn EP 460

0 out of 5

The Castrol Alphasyn EP 460 gear oil range is a high-quality synthetic lubricant based on polyalpha-olefin (PAO) fluids and sulfur/phosphorus Extreme Pressure (EP) additive technology. These synthetic lubricants offer outstanding thermal stability and high load-carrying capacity. The Alphasyn EP range is formulated for use in all types of enclosed gears, including heavily loaded and shock-loaded gears and bearings requiring EP properties. They are suitable for gearboxes needing micropitting resistance and for various applications in extreme environments. The use of a PAO basestock provides a high Viscosity Index (VI) and low pour points, making these products ideal for a wide temperature range. The Alphasyn EP range is fully compatible with nitrile, silicone, and fluropolymer seal materials.

Castrol Alphasyn EP 460 Gear Oil – Synthetic Lubricants for Extreme Pressure and Thermal Stability

Description: The Castrol Alphasyn EP gear oil range is a high-quality synthetic lubricant based on polyalpha-olefin (PAO) fluids and sulfur/phosphorus Extreme Pressure (EP) additive technology.

Application: Suitable for heavily loaded gearboxes subjected to extreme temperatures, draw works transmissions on Mobile Offshore Drilling Units, and Onshore sites, as well as top drives on Mobile Offshore Drilling Units and Onshore sites.

Approval Status: Alphasyn EP is classified as CLP according to DIN Classification. The EP grades meet the requirements of:

  • DIN 51517
  • AGMA 9005-D94
  • US Steel 224
  • David Brown Type E
  • Hansen Transmissions
  • Flender
  • Lohmann & Stofferfoht

Features and Benefits:

  • Full EP performance for maximum protection against wear and shock loading, including micropitting resistance.
  • Excellent thermal and oxidative stability for reliable operation and extended life compared to mineral oil-based products.
  • High Viscosity Index suitable for wide temperature range operations.
  • Rapid air release and good performance in Flender Foam Test to prevent foaming and bearing damage.
  • Compatibility with seals, paints, and mineral oil-based lubricants due to PAO-based formulation.
  • Exceptional thermal stability and oxidation resistance.
