Description
Castrol Alpha SP 68 – Premium Industrial Gear Oil
Product Overview
The Castrol Alpha™ SP series is a high-quality range of industrial gear oils formulated from refined mineral base oils and fortified with advanced extreme pressure (EP) additive technology. This formulation delivers exceptional thermal stability and superior load-carrying capabilities. The EP additives not only provide excellent load-bearing performance but also offer micro-pitting protection—known as anti-scuffing—safeguarding gears against micro-level wear and tear. This critical feature helps prevent micro-scale damage, prolonging gear life and meeting the demands of compact gearboxes operating under high torque.
Applications
- Industrial Gearboxes: Ideal for lubricating industrial gearboxes utilizing forced circulation, splash lubrication, or oil bath systems.
- Helical and Spur Gears: Suitable for straight and helical spur gear systems, as well as select light-duty worm gear applications.
- Low-Temperature Performance: Excellent viscosity characteristics ensure that starting torque remains manageable in low ambient temperatures.
- Material Compatibility: Compatible with both ferrous and non-ferrous metals commonly used in industrial gear units. Fully compatible with standard seal materials to prevent leakage.
Compliance with International Standards:
Depending on the viscosity grade, Castrol Alpha SP meets or exceeds the following specifications:
- DIN 51517
- AGMA 9005 – E02
- AIST 224
- David Brown S1.53.101 Type E
- Flender Revision 16 for helical, bevel, and planetary gear units (ISO VG 150 – 460)
Classified as DIN CLP gear oils.
Key Benefits
- Outstanding Extreme Pressure Protection: Shields gears from wear under maximum load and shock conditions. Proven performance in FZG Gear Tests and validated in extensive real-world applications.
- ‘Clean Gear’ Additive Technology: Minimizes sludge and deposit formation, keeping gear systems clean and operationally efficient.
- Excellent Water Separability and Demulsibility: Ensures stable lubrication even in the presence of water contamination, protecting against rust and corrosion.
- Superior Rust and Oxidation Resistance: Provides robust protection, extending equipment life and reducing downtime.
- Seal Compatibility: Fully compatible with commonly used sealing materials, preventing leaks and reducing maintenance costs.
